Isn't the word swag funny. I wonder where it came from. This is the art that Jimmie just drew that this year's t-shirt will be based on Jimmie's style is so perfect for the Woodzie. I'm working on getting the lettering done. Shouldn't be long now.
The t-shirts are supposed to be marked up just enough so that if we sell every one and everybody pays, it recoups the cost for the two kegs of beer. About $300. We haven't succeeded in doing that yet so we need to fire our hippie accountant.
It would work if we could sell the beer and give the t-shirts away.
We ended up on the same last minute schedule as always on the t-shirts. But like Chris said at the Woodzie, maybe that's just the way it has to be.
Good news, there are still some people who want shirts that we have to ship to but it looks like we'll break even on the t-shirts this year. The shirts came to about $550 and Taylor took in about $500.
It didn't pay for the keg but the keg is only $94. It may end up paying the $40 we spent for the glo stix. Those two items appear to be very popular: Beer for the parents, glo stix for the kids. :)
Once we're in that ball park of almost breaking even then we've done part of what we try to do which is show people that this kind of thing can be done without it being a big financial burden. The hippie way.

that's how the bankers do it
At trade shows, the people in the booths will tell you that SWAG is actually an acronym for "stuff we ain't getting."
That's great. Perfect.
The other wonderful explanation offered up is that swag was pirate slang for plunder.
Not likely that we can make it from PA but might have to buy some of that swag to help support the kegs.
We'll save you some shirts, Mike. And we'll eat some bar-b-que on your behalf!! Maybe one of these years you and your family can make it down.
...shouldn't be long now.....
famous last words!
