This, above, is the old bearded grandfather oak tree in the area where we have a bunch of kids toys, swings and stuff. It's the Woodzie Playground.

Jimmie loves the trees.

Don't reach for the pretty berries. That's devil cactus.

This is a cattle stock pond, pretty but not good for swimming.

The bare trees are really dramatic at sundown. By the Woodzie all those elms will be solid bright green from 8 feet up, like a wall.

There is cactus but it's not all over. You just have to be aware.

It's a beautiful place. All Texas, all the time.

I worked at the Woodzie site today - it looks so good. I made a rock lined path up to the ridge where we watch sunsets. My $9.99 pruners broke and I had to buy new ones. Sprung for the $25 Fiskars cause they have a lifetime warranty. Love how they prune! I used a pry bar to remove giant rocks from the path - what fun. I’ll never use a pry bar without thinking of Uncle Raymond. He was a master at moving the big ones.
The agarita are blooming, and smell delicious. Won’t be long til the mountain laurel follow. The oaks are dropping their leaved and the elms are opening theirs. There’s bluebonnets growing everywhere.
Nice to be working outside on such a lovely day.
